He Hideth My Soul

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16

Everyone loves a good hero story. I recently watched the movie "Ad Astra" and was entertained by how the main character was entrusted with a special mission. He went to Neptune and destroyed the ship that was causing electric shocks in earth and consequently killing many people. After overcoming major obstacles, he accomplished his mission and restored the stability of the universe. I enjoy science fiction tales like that, but I'm captivated by down-to-earth stories that are happening right now, at this difficult time.

I have heard stories in the news that reveal the kindness and courage of ordinary people, such as Liam Elkin and two friends. They spent what was supposed to be their spring break launching a free delivery service for elderly throughout New York and New Jersey. In less than a week their Invisible Hands program lined up almost 4,000 volunteers to retrieve and deliver food and medicine for the elderly, disable and sick.

Yolanda Fisher is a cafeteria worker at a middle school in Dallas, Texas. Even when the school is closed, she still wakes ups early in the morning and goes to work because they're still feeding the kids. And it's not just kids that attend her school, it's any child that stayed in the area and needed a meal.

The Yuen family along with 200 other residents of Bakersfield, California, responded to the plea to take in the shelter animals from the county shelter after it was ordered to close last month.

Then close to home in San Antonio, Texas, last week a group of people supported hospital workers through parking lot prayer. Drivers flicked on their hazards lights as a wave to those watching from the windows above. They put signs on their windshields with messages of hope.

And hope is what we need in this desperate time. I have decided to put my trust in Jesus Christ. By coming into this world, so small and dark, and giving his life on the cross, he fulfilled his mission perfectly, thus offering redemption for you and me and the assurance of eternal life.

1
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me,
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

Refrain
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
he hideth my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

2
A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away,
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

3
With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, Oh, Glory to God
For such a Redeemer as mine.

4
When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love,
I'll shout with the millions on high.
